Volunteer with S.H.A.C.

S.H.A.C. operates entirely on the time, energy and dedication of our volunteers. Our volunteers work around full-time jobs, families, and normal life obligations. We always welcome more hands to make the work lighter!

If you would like to become a S.H.A.C. volunteer, take a moment to review our general opportunities and then fill out a volunteer application form below. Training can be provided if you have a particular area of interest. We’d love to have you on the S.H.A.C. team!

If you’d like to get involved more on the strategic side, or if you’ve had nonprofit leadership experience, please tell us about that experience on the application.

Volunteer Opportunities

Trapper

Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return is the proven way to effectively control the cat populations. Our trappers is where it all begins, and we need many more! But beware — trapping can be a ton of fun and highly addictive!

Feeders, Caretakers, Colony Caregivers

Feed, water, keep areas clean, monitor health and insure safety of our furry friends at our Cat Sanctuary. Including snuggle and play time!

Special Events

S.H.A.C. is so fortunate to be included in several community events throughout the year. Grab your S.H.A.C. T-shirt and trucker hat, spend a couple of hours working the door or the beer tent and enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones!!

Volunteer Opp-Surgery Day

Don't worry, you don't see any of the actual surgery unless you want to! We really need help getting animals settled in when they come in, caring for them while awaiting surgery, while recovering, after recovery. Cleaning as we go and after they leave the clinic.

Volunteer Opp - General Housekeeping & Kennel Cleaning

Being a medical clinic, it's important to keep everything clean and sanitized. We need help after every surgery day to get ready for the next. We don't want to spread any harmful germs to any of our furry patients! Other General Cleaning of our facility is needed too.

Fostering

Fostering means you get to care for a rescued animal in your own home until a permanent adopter is found. You don't need prior fostering experience and the length of time is up to you. We give you training, guidance and cover medical costs for visits scheduled through our clinic. We'll also help out with food, litter, and of course, toys!

Foster Support

Some foster parents may not have computers or be comfortable with the internet. Help write foster animal bios for the website, create social media posts and help us grow our followers online. Sometimes a foster parent may just need assistance getting their fur baby to a vet appointment and back.

Office Assistant

We have a variety of light clerical tasks that can be done in our office, or from the comfort of you own home. We'll teach you everything you need to know. Whether you have a couple of hours a week or month, we'd love to hear from you!

Facility & Grounds

Are you handy? Like working outside? We occasionally need help hanging a door or mowing the grass. We could also use some help here and there building feeding stations for our monitored colonies. If this kind of work is up your alley, we'd love to have you on our team.
