Other Spay / Neuter Programs

Stray Spay Days

We started the Stray Spay Day clinics in October 2024 as we continued to find ourselves overwhelmed with Trap-Neuter-Return requests and our inability to accommodate the increasing needs of people throughout our Community caring for stray cats.

By designating a day and a convenient location to meet people with their strays cats, friendly and feral, we provide transportation to/from the Surgery Center for surgery, vaccinations and treatment. This program has allowed us to reach more people, caring people that have grown fond of their strays, that need help to do their part to reduce the over population, knowing their situation could quickly get out of control if not intervening to stop the never ending cycle.

They want to help us, help them, help their stray cats! Willing to take the time to do it! It’s been very successful and has allowed us to help 600 more cats in our Community each year, preventing thousands! Allowing our volunteer trappers to focus more on those that do not have the option nor ability to take advantage of this program.

If you have a stray cat situation, that you are able to contain and transport, read the flyer below for more information about the program and how to sign up.

Assistance for Low Income Pet Owners

The Surgery Center strives to be the affordable option and resource for people and their animals that would otherwise not have access. With two options to accommodate residents of Baldwin County, we can offer spay and neuter, with rabies vaccination, for just a low $10 CoPay for cats and $20 CoPay for dogs.

In addition to Baldwin County residents, the Spay/Neuter License Plate program, expands our reach to any resident of Alabama that receives Medicaid.

Submit an appointment request linked here (directed to S/N Assistance) and select the appropriate low income option based on qualifications.

Other Options for Reduced or Discounted Spay/Neuter

The services provided by The Surgery Center can only be offered to low income households but there are other affordable options available to people that may not qualify as low income.

We encourage individuals to look into these resources and find the best fit for their specific needs. By following through with one of these options, your furry companion can live a healthier life and while also doing your part to reduce the over population of animals in our community.

Tips and Tricks for Successful Trapping or Containment of Community and Outdoor Cats

Our primary focus at The Surgery Center is to target cats that are actively breeding or more likely to breed. Community Cats, stray cats, cats that live outdoors or permitted to go in/out.

We are professionals with decades of experience, with the cats best interest and safety in mind, these Tips and Tricks are extremely helpful to anyone attempting to confine cats with a scheduled appointment. By following these simple instructions, you set yourself up for success, reducing avoidable  incidents, some that can be heartbreaking, causing injury and/or  property damage.

Ending the Cycle of “Free” Kittens!!

Sometimes it seems like kittens are literally falling from the sky, especially during kitten season, which extends through multiple seasons in our Southern region. Spring to Fall. The easiest solution for people put in situations is to give them away, it’s a band-aid for people rehoming the kittens but it is not resolving the source of the problem, the reason why they are in the position in the first place.

Giving away unaltered kittens causes thousands more unaltered kittens needing to be rehomed. It’s feeding the issue and at alarming numbers. We cannot adopt our way out of this! It is becoming more and more difficult to find good homes, many never find their forever, happily ever after and end up living on our streets, breeding.

Because the chances of good homes have significantly decreased, we want to encourage more people to adopt the “give away” kittens and do so responsibly. To do their part to insure their new furry companion is not part of the unimaginable statistics.

We just started a new Kitten Vetting Program. To ease some of the initial financial burdens of taking in a new kitten, giving them a healthier life and a forever home, not adding to the crisis of the over population of unwanted, the accidental litters, the homelessness and the suffering.

See the flyer below for requirements, information and how to apply for Kitten Vetting assistance.

Note – this program is not limited strictly to acquiring a new “give away” kitten but also includes assistance to individuals that have stepped in to rescue a kitten from a bad situation or by the “universes kitten distribution system.”

Check Out our Success

Since opening our doors in 2020, enduring and working through multiple setbacks, we have managed to alter nearly 25,000 animals.

In the last 2 years alone, we have altered over 6300 animals each of those years. Because of reduced funding in 2026, we have had to reduce our surgical days and make priority adjustments to our schedule. Redirecting our focus on actively breeding animals or more likely to breed. We will not reach the same number of animals served this year but we are still making a significant impact, on a more focused and targeted path, saving millions from never being born into the hardships too many animals face.
